Ang Kawatan
Kulukabildo II: Stories in Direct Light
The Kabilin Center - 35 Eduardo Aboitiz Street, Cebu City, 6000 Cebu, Philippines
Ang Kawatan
Directed by Vanessa Fe | Written by Maverick Avila
Mateo Robles has written the most talked-about novel in Cebu. Tonight, on live television, he gets to tell everyone how. But Ana is in the audience and she knows exactly where the story came from.
Ang Kawatan is a tragicomedy about a stolen truth and what happens when the person it was taken from refuses to stay silent. Set against the backdrop of a live televised book launch, director Vanessa Fe and writer Maverick Avila unfold a public reckoning that cuts straight to the heart of Cebu's creative community: who gets to tell our stories, and what do we owe the people who lived them?
Featuring 2TinCans Theatre Company members Lord Latonio, Dave Feril, Judee Kriselle Rallos, Shane Ayong, Grant Bacaltos, and Shiella Pesta?o-Gemperoa, with stage management by Regina Binueza.
Kulukabildo II: Stories in Direct Light - A Theatre Series
Rooted in the Bisaya concept of kulukabildo (informal exchange), this series reimagines that exchange through the intentionality of the stage--bringing socially-relevant narratives into direct light. From April to November, this season serves as the culminating showcase of our directors' training program, featuring the distinct visions of eight emerging directors.
Join us for a season of intimate theatre that acts as a catalyst for reflection and community dialogue. 8 Months. 8 Directors. 1 Stage. Monthly this 2026.
